Coronavirus Update

Dear Parents/Carers,

We hope this letter finds you well. We are sure you will all now be aware of the government’s intention to reopen schools to Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 from 1st June. Since the announcement was made on Sunday, in consultation with other schools locally, we have been busy working to complete plans in order to allow this to happen as soon as it is deemed safe to do so.

We will continue to update you over the next few weeks as we approach 1st June and as we finalise plans, we will share these with you. Please be assured that, as we make these plans, the safety of the children, their families and the school staff form the basis of all our decision making. Please be patient with us as we approach this unprecedented situation and work hard to ensure the safety of everyone.

The Department for Education has released the following guidance to parents to help prepare you for the wider opening of schools: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/closure-of-educational-settings-information-for-parents-and-carers/reopening-schools-and-other-educational-settings-from-1-june

Whilst the school may open to the above mentioned year groups, we understand that many families will still have reservations about sending their children back into school. We understand that many parents will remain worried despite the school’s best efforts to make it as safe as it can be and, as a result, some parents may choose to keep their children at home. Please be reassured that we understand if parents feel this way and there is no pressure to send your children in to school. The government would like all children from the selected year groups to attend where possible, but have stated that there will be no fines for non-attendance.

As well as being open for the identified year groups, the school will remain open, as it has throughout the lock down, for vulnerable children and children of critical workers, a list of which can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-maintaining-educational-provision/guidance-for-schools-colleges-and-local-authorities-on-maintaining-educational-provision.

In order to support us in planning for the reopening of schools to the identified year groups, It would really help if the parents of children in Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 were to complete a short questionnaire in order to confirm whether their child will attend school if it is re-opened.

To access the questionnaire please click on the link below. Please can you fill a separate questionnaire in for each child that you have that currently attends Nursery, Reception, Year 1 or Year 6.

Once we have completed our planning, we will contact parents with more specific details of what the planned provision will be once schools have been formally asked to reopen by the government following the five tests they have set out being met.

Thank you in advance for your responses to the questionnaire and for your continued support throughout this challenging time.

Yours sincerely,
