At Cheslyn Hay Primary the Art and Design curriculum provides children with the opportunities to develop and extend their skills and knowledge and an opportunity to express their interests, thoughts and ideas.  We intend to encourage children to develop confidence in working individually and with others.  The curriculum is designed to stimulate children's creativity and imagination by providing visual, tactile and sensory experiences.

Our Art and Design curriculum aims to enable pupils to develop their knowledge, understand concepts and acquire skills, and be able to choose and apply these in relevant situations. The children will develop their understanding of colour, form, texture and pattern and their ability to use materials and processes to communicate ideas, feelings and meanings.  The children will be provided with opportunities to record from first-hand experiences and from imagination and to select ideas to use in their work.  The curriculum will allow children to increase their critical awareness of how art and design reflects and shapes our history, and how it contributes to the culture, creativity and wealth of our world.
