Year 6 had a fantastic afternoon dissecting hearts for this half term’s memorable experience. The children were incredibly enthusiastic and showed great maturity all afternoon. They were able to cut the four chambers of the heart, identify the blood vessels and valves, and they used straws to understand the blood flow. A great afternoon, well done Year 6!
Welcome to our gallery! This half term, we have been exploring the work of Georges Seurat. Focussing on the Pointillism technique that he used, we have been inspired to create self-portraits linking to our ID topic.
In the first lesson, children researched Georges Seurat and found out about his life and artistic style. They then explored using different tools to create the distinct dots of colour, finding which tool suited them the most. This was used in further lessons to recreate some of the work of Georges Seurat, using an outline as a template. While learning from home, children used online tutorials to learn how to draw self-portraits with pencil. This was then further developed in school, adding detail to make it look more personal. In our final art piece, children used their chosen tool to create a Pointillism self-portrait, inspired by Georges Seurat.
We hope you enjoy looking at our work.
