Year 4

Welcome to Year 4's Class Page

In Year 4 our focus is INDEPENDENCE.

By the end of the school year, most children should be able to:

Remember school essentials.
Communicate worries and concerns effectively.
Resolve challenging situations effectively.
Be aware of their own strengths and weaknesses and to embrace them.
Become resilient learners.
Check through their own work and recognise errors.
Edit and improve their writing independently.
Complete homework independently.

In Year 4, homework is set on a weekly basis.  Creative Curriculum and Maths homework is set on a Wednesday and should be completed by the following Monday.

Children will have weekly spellings on a Monday to learn for the test each Friday.  They are a given a list of 10 spellings with rules to practice.  The weekly test will consist of 15 spellings.

Children should read at home for at least ten minutes every day and record this in their Homework Diary.  Diaries should be checked and signed by parents once a week.  In Year 4, children are encouraged to begin filling in the pages of the books that they have read themselves.

In order to prepare for the statutory Multiplication Tables Check, which will take place in the Summer Term of Year 4, children should be logging on to Times Table Rockstars for 10-15 minutes at least four times per week to practise their times tables.
